CJRCL Rules

There is one basic tenet to follow:
Managers must treat everyone with respect and courtesy.
The Original Golden Rule.

Expectations of managers

Managers are expected to treat each other with respect and to:

Monitor their teams injuries and player usages.
Submit the basic lineups vs. left and right hand starting pitchers and a starting pitching rotation.
(All other options and tendencies may be submitted or left to the computer.)
Respond to trade offers from other owners in a timely manner.
Respond to any votes or questions from the Commissioner.

  League Set Up:

This is a Centralized League using DMB V10 with all games on the Commissioner's computer. This is an "off season" league playing games from September thru April.

Organization of CJRCL

The League will be split into 2 Conferences- the Franchise Conference and the Independent Conference. The champions from each conference will meet in the CJRCL World Series.

The conferences will operate under virtually the same rules which will listed below the Conference descriptions.

The main difference between the conferences involves relationship between the conference teams and the Real Major League teams.

CJRCL_ Franchise Conference:

Managers joining league will pick a 1980 Major League Team on first come first serve basis. They will protect 3 players rom the real life team's roster. The rest of the Major League Team's roster will be released to draft pool.

There will be a draft of 30 rounds to bring roster to 33 players.

The draft will be held on Cracker Jack League Forum. For the first 20 rounds each team allotted a scheduled time to pick. The last 10 rounds will be run 1 round a day by either an auto-draft choice by computer or from submitted player lists or general instructions.

Before the 1981 season draft, teams will select 12 keepers from their 1980 roster. Players from a team's 1980 roster who did not play in 1981 may be protected as an uncarded player using one of the 12 keepers spots.

Teams will also have the option to protect one player debuting on their real life team in 1981 (and in future seasons) as their Round 1 pick of the 1981 draft.

CJRCL_ Independent Conference:

Managers joining league will pick a stadium used by an 1980 Major League Team on first come first serve basis. All players from 1980 season disk will be released to draft pool.

There will be a draft of 33 rounds to bring roster to 33 players.

The draft will be held on Cracker Jack League Forum. For the first 24 rounds each team allotted a scheduled time to pick.

Rules common to both conferences

Injuries based on player ratings and weather factors will be enabled.

Players injured for at least 10 days may be put on the DL.

Players must be rated at a position to start a game, the one exception
being that OF's may play any OF position.

All teams will use DH.

The league will use the 1980 eras for coming season.

Teams may use either a 4 or 5 man pitching rotation during the regular season.

During the World Series teams may use a 3 man strict rotation or either strict
or skip for 4 or 5 man rotations

Below is a definition and recommendations concerning
the modes from the DMB help pages:

Select Strict mode to have the computer manager use your pitchers in the order they appear in the starting rotation. The computer manager will choose another starting pitcher only if a rotation starter is injured when his turn comes up.

Select Skip to have the computer manager use your pitchers in the order they appear in the starting rotation but skip to the #1 starter when one or more off-days have left him rested enough to start before his turn. The computer manager will choose another starting pitcher only if a rotation starter is injured when his turn comes up.

The Strict option is usually best for DMB leagues that are using newly-drafted rosters

Player Usage

Player usage will be 150% of the combined total usage (PA's/IP's) and for batters also 200% of that players usage vs. left or right handed pitchers. Those reaching 150% total must be farmed, those exceeding 200% on splits usage may stay active but will have there effectiveness reduced by DMB usage utility

For the strike shortened 1981 season the usage will be expanded to 230% total and 310% splits to approximate full normal length season stats.

Rosters

Rosters must be set to no more than 25 active players before opening day.
After September 1st the rosters may be expanded up to 33 players.
Teams must carry two players on their active roster who are rated at catcher except where injuries might make this impossible.

Free Agents

Team's may acquire free agents at any time during the regular season. Requests listing player to be acquired and player to be dropped must be submitted to the commissioner. These requests will be processed on a first come first serve basis.

Free agents acquired after September first are not eligible for post season. These acquired players will carry over to the next season.

Trades

Players may be traded after the World Series until September 1st.

During season all player trades must be balanced so each team has 33 players on roster. Following the season teams' rosters may vary up until keeper claims for next season.

Draft Pick trades for the next CJRCL season are allowed and will be posted on Web Site.
Managers are free to make any agreements involving future draft picks beyond the next season but it is their responsibility to keep track of trades and report them to the commissioner prior to that season's draft. Owners also assume the risk in these unofficial trades that all involved return to league the next season or the agreement will not be honored.
